Realizing the importance of its diaspora in the economic development of Rwanda, the Government of Rwanda wants to identify the conditions and factors that are necessary to engage diaspora in the development of their country of origin.
In this light, Rwanda's Government has set out to map its diaspora community in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
According to the Rwandan Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), an estimated 345.800 Rwandans live abroad in 2013, compared to 263.400 (2.6% population) in 2010.
Together with our missions in the respective countries, the Government of Rwanda launched a mapping exercise of its diaspora to better understand how they could engage with the country's development process.
