The Hague – The International Organization for Migration received the green light from the Dutch government to expand assisted voluntary return and reintegration (AVRR) to countries that were temporarily excluded from the programme.
Since 1991, IOM in the Netherlands has been tasked by the Dutch government with the voluntary return and reintegration of migrants returning to their country of origin. Next to the logistic support of applying for new travel documents and booking the flight, vulnerable migrants and migrants from the AVRR country list can use reintegration assistance after their return. This in-kind assistance is administered by the IOM office in the country of origin and can be used for income-generating activities, education, or housing.
After their exclusion in 2016, these countries are now back on the list for reintegration assistance:
- Algeria
- Belarus
- Egypt
- Lebanon
- Mongolia
- Morocco
- Tunisia
- Türkiye
From the 1st of July onwards, migrants returning to these countries can apply for reintegration assistance again.
You can find information about the eligibility conditions for reintegration assistance here.
Migrants who are interested in learning more about their options can make an appointment with an IOM counselor in their region via the IOM AVRR hotline: 088- 7464466
